A spell of heavy rain triggered a landslide in West Bengal’s Darjeeling district, damaging a stretch of the principle street linking Rimbik and Lodhama areas within the hills and affecting visitors movement, police sources stated on Monday.

The sources stated no casualty was reported within the incident on Sunday afternoon.

The sources stated that the landslide closely broken the newly-constructed street stretch redeveloped not too long ago at a value of Rs 20 crore. The district administration had begun restore work on the hyperlink street from Monday morning.
